Updating & New Orleans

Since I am just getting started with this blog- I thought I would back up a few months and update everyone on our family to this point. David & I moved to Louisiana a little over a year ago to be closer to my family & help take care of my grandmother who has dementia. She moved in with us in March of last year. David & I had gone through several years of infertility & were also considering adoption at this time & right before we moved, we met a birth mom through our sweet friends The Linders in Dallas. I was able to go with the birth mom to every single doctor appointment & we were both in the delivery room when our beautiful son was born on July 25th. We have a very open adoption & have an ongoing relationship with the birthmom & her family. We have been truly blessed & we cherish every moment with him. In December of this year, our birth mom who is a struggling single mother ask us if her 7 year old daughter could come & live with us for awhile as she was unable to care for her....so we said yes & in a little over a year- we have gone from "just the 2 of us" to a house full of 5!!! Our lives are busy but we feel blessed & although we don't know what the future holds with the little girl, we feel God put her in our lives & led our families together for a reason & we want to make every moment special & use this time to mold a precious life. We are enjoying life in Louisiana, despite what we thought it might be like coming back, love being close to family & have met some great friends here. We love the slower pace & lack of traffic & love our old house with the big front porch & huge 100 + year old oak tree in the back yard. We dostill miss so many things about Dallas & all of our wonderful friends there & hope that this blog can help us stay in touch with everyone better! Our sweet baby boy turned 8 months today & is getting so big!! He finally started crawling this week & is into everything & now has 4 teeth! The last 2 have prevented us from getting much sleep lately! We just went on our first mini-vacation since our son was born. We spent a long weekend in New Orleans & were able to meet up with our friends from Dallas- The Archers. We loved getting to catch up with them & we had a wonderful weekend. Yay! First Post!!

I am finally entering the blogging world!! I have been wanting to do this forever & have just been so busy that I haven't sat down to learn the ropes! My sweet friend from Dallas has a really cute blog: http://geeringgab.blogspot.com/ and gave me a tutorial over the phone & walked me through the whole process!! I am so excited to keep everyone updated & be able to post our day to day adventures. So...here is my very FIRST post!! We just got back from a weekend trip to New Orleans last night so I will upload pictures & post about that later!
